Help PMWI youngsters start their projects in a fun way in order to let them have a flying start

The Professional Workplace for Social Impact (PWMI) is a collaboration between Lumens and several educational institutions: Fontys School of Social Studies, Summa College Social Work, Fontys Applied Psychology, and Fontys Sports Studies. Within this professional workplace, students work on assignments commissioned by Lumens, collaborating in a transdisciplinary way on projects and challenges related to themes within the social and safety domains.

The primary focus is on youth prevention (up to age 23), aiming to create social impact in the municipality of Eindhoven. This includes promoting social cohesion, participation in sports, and addressing issues such as inclusivity, poverty, and loneliness.

Just like Fontys ICT industry projects, these students are thrown into an unknown project with a group of diverse students. But in the social domain, different ways of working and thinking and defining projects is even more complex.

The challenge is to create a game to help students starting their projects. There are two different angles:

  • practice preparing for a first meeting with a stakeholder; a possible concept could be a kind of escape room where you need to find the right information in order to be able to meet the stakeholder
  • a multiplayer game to find out from each others talents, ways of working, and to come up with a shared way of working for the given new project

Many materials exist to help you with the required background information.

Expected Deliverables

  • Playable game (prototype), Unity
  • Gameplay trailer
  • Handover material
