Design a BCI-game for people who cannot use regular controls with mechanics thematically linked to EEG input.
The aim of this project is to design a game and develop a prototype in which brainwave measurements (EEG) are used as real-time input for a game.
This technology can benefit patients who suffer from (chronic) nervous system impairments, such as cerebral palsy and multiple sclerosis, or those who are otherwise unable to use regular controls.
Recent advances in this field have made it possible to apply EEG technology in modern games such as the hands-free controller for Elden Ring. The goal of this project is to design a game that is specifically suited for EEG input.
Together with a team of game design and EEG experts, during this industry project you will focus on finding both an optimal technological setup, as well as a fitting game design, for this purpose.
Scope and Requirements
The game:
- should use EEG technology
- have gameplay mechanics thematically linked to using EEG as input
- may be in Dutch or English
Otherwise, the project allows for a lot of freedom in terms of game design.
Starting Resources
- Available hardware: Neurosity Crown
- Tutorials on how to link the device in Unity are readily available
Expected Deliverables
The expected deliverables will be:
- an overview of existing technologies and games in this area,
- a feasible game design that incorporates this technology,
- a working, playable prototype
